Two-shot molding provides a low cost, performance driven solution for high volume programs traditionally supported by plastic on plastic insert molding. The two-shot process combines two molding machines into one, injecting two resins into the tools in sequence. This process eliminates work in process inventory and direct labor content, while improving process reliability and consistency.

Polymer Plainfield Companies’ range of two-shot products includes functional components such as covers with integrated gaskets as well as functional cosmetic parts such as buttons and knobs that incorporate complex graphics for reverse illuminated switches.

Due to the unique part design requirements needed for the two-shot process, Polymer Plainfield Companies’ engineering resources are available early in the development cycle to advise our customers on incorporating two-shot design requirements into their concepts.
